What's New...
Hard Luck Students Making the Grade
Many of our Scholars continue to make the Dean's List.  What is unusual about this accomplishment is that these were students who faced either financial, physical or emotional challenges to even make it to college.  The Smith Foundation awards scholarships to those individuals who give back to their community by volunteer work, assistance to family, or both.  Criteria for selection also targets individuals who are the first in their family to attend college.  Less than 6% of poverty level students even attend college in the U.S.  These students have overcome tremendous obstacles to gain entry into college and now they are succeeding in a competitive environment to make the most out of their scholarships.
